The University Club of San Francisco features a classic aesthetic with an incredible skyline view facing downtown San Francisco. One of my favorite spaces to do portraits is the Library on the Fourth Floor. Ceremony, Cocktail Hour and the Dance Floor are commonly held in the Lounge on the 4th Floor. The Reception dinners are typically hosted in the Dining Hall on the 3rd Floor.
The Lounge of the University Club is where the ceremony and dancing typically take place. During the day it provides some dramatic soft light from the window walls facing east allowing for a cinematic aesthetic. I also love using the Lounge for first look and family portraits in front of the fireplace. It’s an incredibly convenient spot to get some of the group photos done ahead of the ceremony since most of the time you’ll be waiting in the Billiard room as guests begin trickling in.
At night, the view transforms into an epic evening skyline view allowing for photos featuring the twinkling lights of downtown San Francisco.
I love taking advantage of the Library for any University Club wedding. It’s perfect for wedding party portraits and couples portraits. Especially if you love the dramatic, classic feel it can provide. The leather couches, wooden bookshelves and fantastic window light all work in unison to provide an ultimate old-school aesthetic.
University Club weddings typically host their dinner receptions in the Dining Hall. Similar to the Lounge above, it has a great view downtown with access to the exterior balcony where guests can step out for an unobstructed perspective.
