Sarah and Ryan’s Thomas Fogarty wedding weekend kicked off with a Mehndi party at Sarah’s childhood home in Fremont. This was the start of a beautiful fusion wedding featuring cultural touches of Pakistan, California and Pittsburgh. Guests arrived to a welcoming house where the backyard was set up for an evening of outdoor dining and choreographed performances. Inside, women could have henna designs drawn on their hands. The performances primarily involved members of the family, including Sarah, her mother and sister, and even–to Sarah’s surprise–Ryan, himself. Once the formal performances ended, the dancing continued into the night. A hookah station provided a pocket of casual relaxation for those not partaking on the dance floor.
The following day began at the Four Seasons Palo Alto for the ladies, where Sarah had her hair and makeup done before heading off to Thomas Fogarty Winery to get into her Pakistani/Indian wedding attire.
Their ceremony took place up on the upper lawn, overlooking the valley below. Officiated by a close friend, the fusion Pakistani/American ceremony had beautifully personal touches.
After the ceremony, Sarah and Ryan had a wardrobe change. Sarah donned a gorgeous Berta gown, and Ryan sported black tie.
Their reception was held in the pavilion, which sits on the side of the hill overlooking the vineyards. It’s a spectacular view! After their grand entrance, Ryan sabered a champagne bottle for the welcome toast to kick off the dinner. Following the toasts, guests were then ushered into the hill house where they enjoyed homemade cookies at the cookie bar (a Pittsburgh tradition!). The first and parent dances kicked off the rest of the night until the sparkler send off capped off Sarah and Ryan’s beautiful Thomas Fogarty wedding!
