FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is your booking policy?

To reserve a session time & date, I require the sitting fee to be paid in advanced as a non-refundable retainer.

How do we select a location?

Typically my clients choose the location (unless we're doing a studio session). I am happy to make suggestions base off of the feel you're going for. In general, I recommend thinking about locations as an environment/atmosphere to work in that fit your personality, as opposed to a backdrop that you're standing in front of. Remember these photos are about YOU and not the stuff behind you. I recommend avoiding overly crowded places that are typical tourist destinations like landmarks.

Will you help pose us?

I try to offer minimal direction but will be more hands-on when needed. My goal is to capture you in as natural a way as possible. Most people aren't comfortable in front of the camera and I help alleviate that anxiety.

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancellations/no shows by the client result in the loss of the retainer. In the unlikely event that I need to cancel the session, your retainer will be refunded.

What happens if the weather is bad?

Rescheduling due to inclement weather is possible in the event of rain or severe winds. San Francisco is highly unpredictable and can often be foggy, therefore rescheduling due to overcast/foggy weather is not permitted.

What should I wear to the session?

Ultimately this depends on the vibe your going for. If you want a formal look, then obviously pick something formal. If you want a casual feel, that's totally cool too. However there are things that I would try to avoid. I recommend avoiding garments that are too loose-fitting or baggy – these can add the illusion of bulk that isn't there. Complex patterns tend to be too busy for environments with a lot of texture and foliage, but can work in a studio environment.

Props?

Personally, I'm not a props guy. I think having less things to carry around and trusting in the process works best.
