Julia Morgan Ballroom Wedding Photography

San Francisco, California

After the very first time I photographed a Julia Morgan Ballroom wedding I fell in love with this venue. It’s got a classic aesthetic with the dark wood paneling and high, coffered ceilings. The space makes for an amazing reception space with gorgeous light coming in from the window wall during the day and a romantic atmosphere after the sun goes down.

Merchants Exchange Building Lobby

On the Lobby of the Merchants Exchange building is one of the options where the ceremony can be held. It’s a unique space that has the potential for some pretty interesting compositions. I also love using this space for wedding party and couples portraits.

The Julia Morgan Ballroom

For the majority of the Julia Morgan Ballroom weddings I’ve photographed, clients have used the main ballroom for just the reception, but it can also be used as a ceremony space. When used as a ceremony space, the fireplace makes a great backdrop for the vows as well as for the group portraits. However the timing for formal photos in the ballroom can sometimes be cut shorter so the event staff can flip the room for the reception. It also is a wonderful spot for couples portraits before guests enter!

The Rooftop

The rooftop isn’t always available for portraits but it’s an awesome spot when you can use it. I love to go up there around sunset to get some epic skyline shots or some photos with the twinkle of the city lights.
